The Confucius Institute Headquarters has officially launched the first training center for Chinese-language teachers in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in Budapest, Hungary.
The center is located at the Confucius Institute of Eotvos Lorand University (ELTE) and offers training courses for teachers of the Chinese language from the 16 CEE countries, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Hungarian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Laszlo Szabo and Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Xiao Qian were present during the ceremony.
During a speech, Szabo said that he believes China and Hungary will continue nurturing their friendly relationship in aspects of culture and economy. The official said that he hopes China will invest more in Hungary.
Xiao, for his part, said that the continued collaboration among all parties has led to the considerable developments in China-CEE cooperation.
The cooperative spirit among concerned countries, he said, has not only yielded more opportunities for exchanges in education, but also the greater call for the promotion of language training and the honing of cultural talents.
The Chinese official opined that the training center will contribute more to the said friendship and cooperation via the production of more high-level Chinese-language teachers and Chinese cultural ambassadors.
Meanwhile, Wang Yongli, deputy director of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, or Hanban, said that the building of the training center symbolizes the evolution of the training model for local Chinese-language teachers. This will promote camaraderie among them, he said.
The training center has been operating since June.
