Former "The King of Queens" star Leah Remini reveals that the "Mission Impossible" actor Tom Cruise was one of the reasons why she departed from Scientology two years ago.
According to E! News, Remini said that "Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of scientology itself. You are evil." The actress addressed that speaking against a member of the association and most of all denouncing your membership has stained her image with the church.
Not only did the comedian express that Cruise was one of the reasons she left, Remini also shared that being in Scientology made her feel deprived to connect with the world, and that the church widened the gap between scientologists and non-believers.
In addition, the 45-year-old actress has been a member of the church for more than 30 years and has been undergoing transition through therapy.
In line with her transition, Remini currently has her TLC show "Leah Remini: It's All Relative" and an upcoming book titled "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," which unveils her 30-year journey and withdrawal from Scientology.
Despite leaving the church two years ago, the association does not seem to be pleased with the 45-year-olds sentiments and public announcements.
As reported by US Weekly, a spokesperson of Scientology stated that, "Given Leah Remini's insatiable desire for attention, it comes as no surprise that for two years she has been incapable of moving on with her life and remains obsessed with shamelessly exploiting her former religion in a pathetic attempt to get publicity."
While the church group has expressed their disapproval for Remini's stories, the reality star has not made any official comments towards the spokesperson's statement. Additionally, Cruise also did not respond to Remini's allegations.
The former Scientologist elaborated her entire narrative and experience in Scientology in an interview on ABC's 20/20. The exclusive interview with Remini will air on Oct. 30, Friday, on NBC.
