"Jessica Jones" trailer has been released and it promises a darker tone along with a potential to raise Marvel's Cinematic Universe to a whole new level.
According to Comic Book Resources, the forthcoming Marvel-Netflix television series showcased a wide-ranging emotional arc for Jessica Jones, which could expand Marvel's Cinematic Universe to new depths and heights.
In the big screen, Jones could be one of the best female players in Marvel's Cinematic Universe. Sharing various elements with other female Marvel characters, Jones holds the shrewdness of Peggy Carter, the horrible past of Melinda May and Black Widow, and the superpowers of Quake, among others.
The recently released trailer showed Jones' traumatic experience, which included elements of threats, blood, death. Also, fans could expect how Luke Cage and the Purple Man could make an impact on the character's life.
Based on the trailer, "Jessica Jones" will show case a dark tone in the Marvel series, as per Movie Pilot. Its tone was evident in "Daredevil" and in contrary to the light tone of the studio's films like "Ant-Man" and "The Avengers."
"Jessica Jones" stars Krysten Ritter as Jones and Mike Colter as Cage. David Tennant, who was not present in the New York Comic Con, will play the major villain Killgrave, also known as the Purple Man in the comics.
The show also stars Carrie-Ann Moss, who plays Jeryn Hogarth, a lawyer and a powerful alliance to Jones; Rachael Taylor as Trish "Patsy" Walker, a former model and child star who is Jones' best friend and now works as a radio host; Erin Moriarty as Hope, a client of Alias investigations; and Eka Darville as Malcolm, among others.
Directed by S.J. Clarkson, "Jessica Jones" Episode 1, entitled "AKA Ladies Night" is slated to premiere on Netflix on Nov. 20.
