Google has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) system called RankBrain, helping the search giant to handle tons of queries that can cause hiccups.
Report says that the new AI system has already answered a very large portion of searches in the past few months. However, there are still 15 percent of searches that are not yet answered, and RankBrain would be very useful to answer those queries.
Greg Corrado, a senior research scientist at Google, said the new AI is effective in discovering new signals from users and finding out meaning behind complicated, ambiguous queries. RankBrain uses artificial intelligence to embed vast amounts of written language into mathematical entities called vectors that computer can understand, Bloomberg reported.
If RankBrain sees an unfamiliar word or phrase, the machine can make a guess as to what words or phrases might have a similar meaning and filter the result accordingly, simplifying the queries for Google to look up.
Google search engineers, who work on said algorithms were asked to look over a few pages and predict which ones Google would rank highly in search results, they managed to guess correctly 70 percent of the time, while RankBrain had an 80 percent success rate.
