Monday night's Halloween episode of "Dancing With the Stars" served as a huge scare for Hayes Grier's fans.
After impressing Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli with his romantic Waltz with professional dance partner Emma Slater, Grier was eliminated from the competition.
One of the most surprising things about Monday night's elimination was the fact that Grier's received the second highest score for the night, according to The Charlotte Observer.
However, what would have mattered most for Grier and Slater were the votes of their fans and supporters who didn't come through for them.
Meanwhile, although fans were surprised to see Grier leave "Dancing With the Stars," fans of the show noticed that the judges weren't as shocked as when "The Hunger Games" star Willow Shields left the competition in season 20.
Shields and Grier were both voted off during the seventh week of the competition, and the two celebrities were also the youngest in the group during their respective seasons, according to ABC.
However, Shields' elimination came off as a huge shock to everyone because the young actress has been receiving consistently good scores with her then partner Mark Ballas.
In an interview with the network, "Dancing With the Stars" host Erin Andrews said, "We are all sad. We are shocked."
Ballas and Shields had a touching moment at that time after the former hugged his partner, and comforted her.
"I just want to say, first of all, a big thank you to Willow. I couldn't be more proud," he said.
"Dancing With the Stars" season 21 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
