Dustin Poirier vs. Joseph Duffy Finds a New Home at UFC 195
UFC Fight Night 76 saw the omission of the main event bout that would've pit Dustin Poirier against Joseph Duffy.
Thankfully, this highly anticipated lightweight scrap found a new home at UFC 195 on January 2, 2016.
"Irish Joe" begged off from the Dublin card after suffering a mild concussion while sparring a week before the fight. His opponent, Poirier, still received his show money and attended the event.
Duffy has been on a tear since his UFC debut last March. He finished Jake Lindsey and Ivan Jorge by TKO and triangle choke respectively.
Conversely, "The Diamond" is going through a sudden resurgence since moving up a weight class.
Since his loss to Conor McGregor, Poirier racked up knockout victories over Carlos Diego Ferreira and Yancy Medeiros - both coming inside the opening round.
Rose Namajunas Steps in to Replace Fellow TUF Alum Joanne Calderwood
UFC Women's Strawweight sensation Paige VanZant will now have a new dance partner in the person of The Ultimate Fighter 20 finalist Rose Namajunas.
VanZant was supposed to fight another TUF 20 contestant Joanne Calderwood; however, the Scottish fighter had to pull out due to undisclosed reasons.
The 21-year-old fighter is 3-0 in the UFC, two of which also came from contestants of the said reality show.
On the other hand, Rose Namajunas looks to veer away from the misfortunes of her fellow cast members and bring a surging VanZant back down the rankings.
Her last bout was against Angela Hill, a fight she won via a standing rear-naked choke.
