Japanese electronics company Nintendo is scheduled to announce its first ever mobile game on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima told the Wall Street Journal, "We will talk about details tomorrow." This is the first time Nintendo hinted the details the details about its planned expansion into the smartphone gaming market, breaking a 7-month long silence.
In March, Nintendo announced that it is partnering with Japanese game developer DeNA Co. to develop and create smartphone games using Nintendo properties. Not much were revealed after that aside from rumors claiming that Nintendo's first mobile game will be released before the end of the year. Additionally, the company is working on four more video game titles aimed for the spring of 2017.
Nintendo's upcoming mobile video game is called "Miitomo." According to Kimishima, the game was supposed to be released earlier but the company decide to delay it in order to properly promote the game. The game will be free to download and Nintendo has yet to confirm which platform the game will support.
According to IGN, Nintendo recently released a financial report showing that "Mario Kart 8" achieved more than 50 percent attach rate and "Animal Crossing: Happy Designer" shows promising sales output. Despite this, the Nintendo Wii U console sales output remains slow.
Nintendo also said that the dedicated Nintendo NX gaming platform is still in development. Nintendo claim that the NX will sport "industry-leading chips" on its design architecture. Nintendo added that it will not provide insider details about the NX until 2016.
