The China Quality Certification Center (CQC) has certified the M100 Smart Glasses by Vuzix Corporation, a leading supplier of Video Eyewear and Smart Glasses in the consumer, commercial and entertainment markets.
The certification process conducted by CQC confirmed that the M100 Smart Glasses conform to all manufacturing and RF emission standards.
Vuzix President and CEO Paul Travers said that the company is delighted that their products passed the CQC inspection and certification, making the M100 the very first smart glasses to receive this certification for resale in China.
Officially branded as "Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses powered by Lenovo NBD," the new product touted as custom-tailored for the Chinese marketplace, will be marketed exclusively by Lenovo.
Travers added that Lenovo is world renowned for its high-quality products and exceptional engineering, making them the most ideal partner with which to bring their M100 Smart Glasses to China.
Travers also explained that as Lenovo is the leading supplier of computers to business and the public sector and is the third largest suppler of smart-connected devices worldwide, Vuzix sees strong market prospects for its M100 as it was precisely intended for those markets.
The M100 Smart Glass, worn with a mount to the side of the head, has similar features as the more expensive Google Glasses such as voice recognition, mapping and access to various cloud-based services.
It currently runs on the Android 4.0.4 platform, has a 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
Further, it has a 16:9 WQVGA display and a 5-megapixel camera. It can of course be synced and paired with other Android-powered devices like smartphones and tablets.
The new M100 is marketed to cost 8,000 yuan.
