The New York Knicks are on the second year of their rebuilding process and their star, Carmelo Anthony, is not getting any younger. It's not secret the Anthony wants to win, and while he may want to do it with his hometown team, is he willing to stick around if they don't make the playoffs this year?
Early this year, several news outlets reported their speculation that Carmelo Anthony could be shipped away from the Knicks and into a new team so that they could truly rebuild. Knicks General Manager Phil Jackson has come into the fold to reinvigorate the Knicks and make them into a contender again, but some question whether Carmelo really fits into his mold as a member of the triangle offense.
The Zen Master and Anthony seem to get along well, but last season was a mess for both parties involved. Anthony was sidelined for the majority of the year and Jackson's Knicks were easy pickings for other teams. During the offseason, they reloaded by drafting Kristap Porzingis and a handful of other players who seem to fit into the system.
The question remains however, should Anthony stick around?
While it is still very much early into the season, at 2-1, the New York Knicks are looking not to shabby. Most games they are competitive even when Anthony cannot seem to get it going. New players such as Kyle O'Quinn and Porzingis have made their mark on the team and hope to make the playoffs this season.
In a weak East, the Knicks can easily sneak into the playoffs if they play to their full strength.
As it stands, Melo may be better off sticking with the Knicks and seeing how this season goes. After all, if things don't work out there is a plethora of teams that would take him in in a heartbeat.
