While hundreds of apps were available at the new App Store's launch, their discovery is challenging. The figure was too small to justify the creation of category listings and also a Top Charts section, although game and video-related applications seem to be best-selling.

The tech company itself is providing no official information about such rankings. In addition, third party analytics firms do not have any inside information.
This has caused some developers to make their own Apple Store Top Charts. One snapshot showed that most of the top-grossing apps are games. However, some video-related apps including Plex, AirVideo, and Carrot Weather are also gaining steam.
Apple TV apps seem to have higher price tags than iOS apps, according to 9to5Mac. Many apps range from $5 to $10, and few are a rock-bottom $1 like on the iOS App Store.
