Sohu TV, an online video streaming website in China, plans to release a range of paid movies, popular local series, foreign TV shows and even user-generated content next year. Zhang Chaoyang, Sohu TV president, made the annoucement during the firm's yearly market conference held in Beijing on Monday.
The streaming site recently bought 56.com, one of the biggest video sharing sites in China. The move allows Sohu TV to expand its products to include user-generated content.
The Sohu TV president said that audiences and fans will be pleased as more licensed and self-produced content will be coming in 2015.
Shows that will be available on Sohu TV next year include the third season of "House of Cards," an American political drama series; "One Piece," one of the longest running Japanese anime shows; and the second season of "Sing My Song," a Chinese talent show.
Sohu TV will also be enriching its self-produced content by making a sequel of "Back in Time," an online drama hit this year, and a movie version of "Diors Man," its own online comedy show.
Sohu TV purchasing center senior director Ma Ke said that 2015 will begin Sohu TV's new generation of tailored online show programming.
The Beijing-based streaming site is expected to have more than 200 TV and UGC show episodes slated for next year, according to reports.
Other Chinese Internet TV firms such as Youku Tudou and Baidu have spent around $1 billion on foreign TV shows.
