PlayStation 5 is already in the works. The news came after the multinational corporation posted a job opening for a developer position on their official website.
The Sony ad was published by Attack of the Fanboy, which included the official statement posted on Sony's website, saying, "We have an exciting opportunity at Sony Computer Entertainment of America (PlayStation). We seek a senior game programmer to assist us in developing a game used for R&D purposes related to our next generation gaming system. For someone passionate about gaming this is a very rare opportunity. After reviewing the below job profile, if this is you, please apply!"
PlayStation Magazine Editor, Ben Wilson admitted the possibility of equipping the new PlayStation console in a way that fans did not expect, Tech Radar reported. Also, the steady progress of downloadable games suggest that PlayStation 5 might be coming with an all new streaming service.
Wilson further explained that this does not mean that CDs will be completely banished from the popular game console. He said, "Steam on PC has taught us that disc drives are becoming less and less necessary, but I can't see them being phased out completely for a while yet."
Twitch-a streaming service Executive Emmett Shear, on the other hand, noted that there might be no 'Xbox Two' or 'PlayStation 5,' since the existing consoles seem to have shorter life span.
PlayStation 5 is expected to be released in 2020. Therefore, gamers who are planning on buying PlayStation 4 right now will still have plenty of time before they can move on to PS5, should they wish to get the upcoming next-gen console.
