To strengthen the relationship between both countries, information and broadcast authorities from China and India took the opportunity to talk about future collaborations in film productions at the ongoing International Film Festival.
The move was said to "deepen people-to-people relationship" between China and India through film production expansions. In the agreement in line with the China-India joint working group, the expansion will be made possible by setting up festivals and co-productions.
China Film Bureau chief Zhou Jiandong of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television (SAPPRFT) said that they have planned three co-productions with the Indian film group.
One of the projects will be directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai which will tell a story of a monk during Tang Dynasty. The other one will be directed by Stanley Tong and will be titled "Kongfu Yoga."
Completing the list is a film produced in an Indian setting by Chinese comedy maker Xu Zheng, who is known for his movie "Lost in Thailand."
Zhou said that China and India are arranging several film exchanges, film weeks and exhibitions to be held at eacy country every two years.
Aside from importing films from each other, China also invited India to be part of the Silk Road International Film Festival in 2015.
In response, filmmakers and stars of both countries welcomed the idea of collaboration and are looking forward to co-productions soon.
