Pang Ho-Cheung's romantic comedy "Women Who Flirt" will hit theaters in the United States and Canada on Nov. 26, in time for Thanksgiving.
The ensemble Mandarin-language film, which was acquired by China Lion Film Distribution from Im Global, stars Zhou Xun and Huang Xiaoming as well as Sui Tang and Xie Yi Lin.
Directed by Pang Ho-Cheung from a screenplay by Luo Fu-Man who also wrote the book it was based on, "Women Who Flirt" tells the story of a woman, Zhang Hui (Angie in the English subtitle), played by Zhuo Xun, who decides to take it upon herself to win back the love of her live, Xiao Gong (Marco in the English subtitle), played by Huang Xiaoming.
But in order to do so, she realizes that she will have to sink to using her female prowess and become what she despises the most--a woman who flirts. Sui Tang plays Bei Bei (Hailey in the English subtitle), the rival for Marco's affection, while Xie Yi Li plays May, the confidante who along with four of her friends teaches Angie the finer points in the art of flirting.
Robert Lundberg of China Lion Film Distribution, in an interview with Deadline, said: "We had picked this film up back in May from Huayi Bros. as a package along with our Dec. 24th film 'Love on the Cloud.' We released a previous film starring male lead Huang Xiaoming called "Love in the Buff," and it's proven to be one of our most popular titles on our dedicated China Lion Hulu channel. Xiaoming always supports his films and is an extremely popular draw in China."
The 37-year-old Huang Xiaoming is an actor, singer and model probably best known for his roles in such hit Chinese television shows as "The Return of the Condor Heroes," "Shanghai Bund," "Da Han Tian Zi" and "The Patriot Yue Fei."
"Women Who Flirt" will open in about two dozen cities with concentrations of Chinese populations as well as college towns in North America two days ahead of its release in mainland China.
