"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 5 that aired on Thursday left fans of the hit CW series divided in many diverse ways.
On Thursday night, it became clear that the Phoenix Stone may resurrect dead people, though it does not imply that the soul will end up in the right body. As a result, Alaric (Matt Davis) had it rough when the Jo he brought back to life turned out not the same person he used to love.
The episode also saw Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) finally getting an opportunity to talk. While Stefan was shocked with Valerie's revelation that she at one time was pregnant with his baby, it was as well obvious that the former had invested a lot in his relationship with Caroline (Candice Accola-King).
Although some fans believe that Valerie could be a love triangle in the new couple's relationship, it is possible that Caroline and Stefan will remain strong through their new ordeal.
Meanwhile, viewers have finally learned about Bonnie's (Kat Graham) newest love interest. In the past couple of weeks, there have been rumors that Bonnie and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will end up together.
The rumored love may not be forthcoming because Damon is still in love with Elena (Nina Dobrev). Furthermore, it is unclear when the character will be referenced on the show.
In the three-year time-jump, it is revealed that Bonnie's lover is Enzo (Michael Malarkey). The pairing seems interesting given Bonnie has never dated a vampire before. A major concern, though, is how Bonnie will change into a somewhat evil character in the time jump.
In an interview with TV Line, Graham said that Bonnie will be keeping a big secret. She said, "The inspiration behind future Bonnie was sort of Helena Bonham Carter in 'Fight Club' - a little more of a bad girl, as well as someone who's hiding a secret."
"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs every Thursday on The CW at 8 p.m. ET.
