The accusations of sexual assault against Sir Cliff Richard apparently are not affecting sales of the DVD of his "75th Birthday Concert" which is now number 2 in Amazon' sales chart, based on pre-orders. Industry experts predict that when the album comes out on Nov. 30, it would top the DVD charts and topple current number 1 Amy Winehouse.
Two more men are accusing Richard of sexual abuse. Detectives from the South Yorkshire Police questioned the singer anew and said they hope to make a final decision on the 15-month sex abuse inquiry.
The Telegraph reports that Richard voluntarily met the probers and was interviewed. They clarified that he was not arrested or charged. He was very cooperative with the investigators by answering all questions, they added.
"Other than restating that the allegations are completely false and that he will continue to co-operate fully with the police, it would not be appropriate for Sir Cliff to say anything further at this time," says Chief Constable David Crompton.
The Sun, however, cites its sources that the new accusers were never alone with Richard during the time they were with him. Daily Mail adds that Richard's minders and other staff executed affidavits that they accompanied the entertainer while filming in the presence of the two accusers who were just boys in the 1980s.
The singer's first accuser, a man in his 40s, claims that Richard sexually assaulted him after Richard sang with American evangelist Billy Graham at a Sheffield concert in 1985, but the singer has denied the accusation.
But because of the two new accusers, Crompton points out that the investigation on Richard, who turned 75 in October and celebrated it by holding a 14-date sell-out tour in the UK and Ireland, had "increased significantly in size" because there is now more than one allegation.
Richard previously issued a statement, wherein he described the accusations as "absurd and untrue," and he stressed that he had never in his life assaulted anyone. Because of the first accusation, police raided the entertainment's house last summer which the BBC broadcast live.
