The faulty images appearing in the LG Nexus 5X are apparently caused by Google's old camera API.
A Google engineer has participated in a Reddit discussion about the upside down images in the Nexus 5X.
Currently, banking apps that require users to scan checks have been experiencing the problem. Other apps that have not been updated in a long time could also be facing the same issue, according to The Verge.
Popular image apps such as Instagram and Flickr are not likely to be affected by the issue since the apps are quickly updated to cater to millions of users.
According to Eino-Ville Talvala, an engineer from Google, the developers used a landscape orientation to properly place the wires inside the Nexus 5X.
The Nexus 6 also had the same issue, but only in the secondary, front camera that is not as used as much as the rear camera; thus, the images accidentally flipping to the other side was not a widespread and easily detectable problem for the Nexus 6.
In order to prevent any impending errors, Google immediately modified some software to prevent the camera from unintentionally taking pictures upside down.
However, some images can still have the error since several third-party apps have not been updated to adapt to the latest camera APIs, according to Engadget.
In order to fix the problem, users do not need to go to repair centers as Google is simply asking users to report the apps that lead to upside down pictures. Once the company has been notified, Google would order the app developers to update immediately.
If an app continues to produce upside down images, a Nexus 5X user can opt to send a direct message to the app developer to fix the API.
The Android developers have started cooperating with South Korean electronics company LG to fix the commendable camera of the NX5 smartphone.
