Los Angeles shooting guard Nick Young may find himself in another trade rumor buzz after being involved in a number of trade speculations during the NBA offseason.
In their first eight games this year, the Memphis Grizzlies have only shot 26.4 percent from beyond the arc.
They have traded for veteran guard Mario Chalmers, but the Grizzlies are still looking for a three-point shooter and offensively talented guard to help improve their struggling campaign early in the 2015-2016 NBA season. This is where "Swaggy P" fits.
According to Sports Blog, Grizzlies would be "extremely interested" in acquiring Young, given that he has been putting up impressive numbers for the Lakers off the bench.
Moreover, the report also suggested the Lakers could move Young to open up enough cap space to make some serious moves in next year's free agency, when the likes of Kevin Durant and other notable stars are available.
Young would fit well for the Grizzlies and may have the chance to be their primary player to take three-point shots during games.
So far, Young has put up decent numbers for the struggling Lakers. In his first seven games of the season, he only played 19.3 minutes per game, but he has a per contest average of 11.3 points, including 45 percent from the three-point territory.
The Grizzlies have already trade for Chalmers by sending Beno Udrih to South Beach, but they still have the pieces to save their down-spiral season.
Another available piece is Zach Randolph, which ESPN's Marc Stein proposed as the trade bait that could net a difference-maker into Memphis.
A straight swap between Young and Randolph would not be possible, so the Lakers may have to add a future lottery pick or another player to make the move possible. According to Real GM, adding Ryan Kelly in the mix would make the trade possible.
At power forward, Kelly could stretch the defense due to his three-point shooting abilities. Kelly was also linked to an off season trade, when the Lakers were looking to shop him, along with Young and Robert Sacre.
Randolph, on the other hand, could serve as a mentor to a gritty Julius Randle and would certainly help Lakers down the stretch. With Brandon Bass not showing enough outputs for LA, Randolph could take his minutes as backup to Randle.
There are no confirmation yet if the Grizzlies are willing to make another deal, but if they continue to struggle, Memphis could surely explore other possible trade options.
