If reports are anything to go by, the LG G series such as LG G Flex 2, LG G4, LG G3 and LG G2 on Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon will get the Android Marshmallow update soon.
According to reports, Google Nexus devices have received the latest Android Marshmallow update. Reports also suggest that the LG G4 was set to be the first non-Nexus device to receive the new update. However, this could not happen due to some problems and the release date of the Android M update for the device was delayed.
According to Gospel Herald, the problems are fixed now and the LG G4 devices should begin to receive the Android Marshmallow update in Europe in Q1 of next year. It's only a matter of time till the Android Marshmallow update hits North America and Asia. According to recent reports, the LG G4 will get the new update before February 2016, and the other devices such as LG G Flex2, LG3 or LG2 will follow shortly after that.
US mobile carrier T-Mobile has confirmed that it is preparing for the Android M update for the LG G series devices. The update will be released over the air (OTA).
Users can manually check for the update by going to their device's Settings->About Device->Software Update and tap on Check for Updates.
The update brings new features such as Doze, according to Trusted Reviews. In Android Marshmallow, the search giant Google has gone to the root of the problem of battery life and attempted to resolve it with the Doze feature. The feature shuts down all app background activity when a user do not move their smartphone for a long time.
