Chongli County’s Wanlong Ski Resort in Hebei Province, which will co-host the 2022 Winter Olympics, experienced a big snowfall the fourth time around.
Some areas in Wanlong are buried underneath a 27-centimeter layer of snow, reported This is Beijing!
Liu Jianjun, a weather expert, described the recent huge snowfall as “very rare.”
Ski tourism in Chongli County attracts millions of local tourists annually.
Wanlong, located in Honghualiang in Zhangjiakou City, will serve as venue for some of the Olympic events in 2022 such as freestyle skiing, biathlon and snowboarding.
The popular ski resort is about 260 km northwest of Beijing or some three- to four-hour drive.
Those who opt to drive may take the Jingzhang Expressway. People can also go to the Beijing Railway Station (Train Number K43) to get to Zhangjiakou. From Zhangjiakou, they can take a bus to reach Wanlong.
The ski resort has 22 trails, according to China Ski Tours, a travel agency which has an office in the country and in the U.S. The resort has two primary trails, four intermediate trails and 16 advance trails.
The country bid and won to host the 2022 Winter Olympics during the activity held at the 128th International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 31.
The government will allot a budget of $3.9 billion for the Olympic Games, reported CNN Money.
Russia hosted the last Winter Olympic Games on Feb. 7-23, 2014, in the city of Sochi. South Korea will host the 2018 events in Pyeongchang on Feb. 9-25.
The mega event will take place in the country on Feb. 4-20, 2022.
