Digital studio RocketJump and Chinese streaming platform Youku Tudou have inked a content supply deal.
Over the coming months, Youku Tudou will commence hosting RocketJump content. This is apart from the plans to work together on creating original contents starting 2016.
For Youku Tudou's chief product officer Teddy Gu, "partnering with digital entertainment innovators like RocketJump pairs perfectly with [their] commitment of furthering [their] entertainment and media ecosystem through showcasing and fostering top content like this for our users, both viewers and producers alike."
Gu also cited that "viewing habits in China are shifting toward higher quality, Web-native content."
For RocketJump's part, CFO Jamie Lukaszewski said: "Having the opportunity to gain exposure to wider audiences while forming a meaningful collaborative relationship in China is a huge step for our company."
RocketJump began in 2010 as a YouTube channel, FreddieW. It was co-founded by Freddie Wong, Matthew Arnold and Desmond Dolly.
The digital studio has since then grown to become a main player in the digital direct-to-consumer new media landscape. It has also gathered a catalog of original action, comedy and family-oriented videos.
On YouTube alone, RocketJump has around 7.5 million subscribers.
RocketJump is also known for video-game-inspired short films featuring big names such as comedy duo Key & Peele, and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
One of the studio's most popular videos is "Medal of Honor Cat," which has over 36 million views on YouTube.
In the United States, its original docu-series "RocketJump: The Show" is slated to premiere on the online streaming service Hulu on Dec. 2. The series was co-produced with Lionsgate Television.
