The release of two games this week affected even porn websites. PCWorld games reporter Hayden Dingman wrote that he received a PR mail from PornHub that the adult site suffered a 10 percent drop in traffic this week.
The reason for the loss of 6 million users on Tuesday was the release of Fallout 4, Dingman explains. The other game released was Starcraft 2.
Pornhub, which released a graph of gamer data based on anonymized "affinity" statistics from Google Analytics, says on an ordinary day, in the early morning hours of 3-4 a.m., there is a 5 percent hike in traffic among gamer. The assumption is at that time, gamers have finished their download and have started playing.
However, it noticed a decline by up to 10 percent of traffic beginning at 5 a.m., and the drop continued from 7 a.m. until noon. By afternoon, traffic returned to normal and dropped again after 6 p.m. as gamers got back hoe from work and began playing again.
Fallout 4 is the latest release in the epic award-winning game series by Bethesda. PornHub notes that anticipation of the release of the game was building up prior to Nov. 10. But "once the moment arrived, dedicated gamers thought of little else - including visiting PornHub.
According to GearNook, Fallout 4 broke record at retail stores with 12 million copies sold worldwide in one day. Including sales through digital download for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, it generated for Bethesda more than $750 million revenue.
It adds that for 2015, Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition was the most pre-ordered game and the fastest-selling collector's edition of any game in retail stores' history.
Meanwhile, in another use of Google Analytics, people from Dream Team FC studied which football stars were popular in the adult entertainment site's search in the UK. Portuguese player and underwear model Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list, followed by David Beckham and Lionel Messi of Argentina. But PornHub points out that these three do not have any sex videos at all, at least on its site.
