Apple romped off to record September 2015 sales thanks in part to the iPhone 6S, which likely will also banner the yearend sale of the tech giant. As it stands, the rivalry between Apple and Samsung still favors the former notwithstanding the successive releases of the Galaxy S6, the S6 Edge, the S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5.
But Samsung is fighting back and it seems that the plan now calls for the upcoming Galaxy S7 to take on the job that its predecessors failed to do - stop and turn back the Apple juggernaut starting with the iPhone 6S.
How exactly the GS7 will end the iPhone smartphone supremacy that is only seen to continue with the iPhone 7 in 2016?
For starters, the Galaxy S7 when unboxed in early 2016 is rumored in two powerful chip flavors - Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 and Samsung's in-house Exynos 8890 chip. This early both mobile device engines are seen as the mightiest to come out next year.
The SD 820, for instance, has been dominating the leaked benchmark rumors that paint a picture of the Galaxy S7 as the most advanced smartphone lined up for market debut in 2016. For good measure, reports are widespread that Samsung worked closely with Qualcomm engineers to ensure that the SD 820 is fully optimized for the S7.
And just to make sure that all S7 models to hit the market are in tip-top from, Samsung engineered an Exynos 8890 that will work in tandem with a that according to G4Games has 14 cores. The same report said that ARM itself has indicated that the graphic engine "is scalable from one to sixteen cores," which only supports the claim.
Among the killer features suggested to unpack with the Galaxy S7 is a totally immersive 4K display screen. True or false, there is little doubt that the 14-core Mali T880 GPU is fully capable of firing up the S7 display.
Also, the Galaxy S7 is rumored as the first flagship smartphone that will introduce the dual-lens camera system that promises superb shooting features. With its rumored hardware specs so far, it's unsurprising that Samsung will be the one to intro this innovation with the S7.
So Samsung appears to be dead-serious on its mission to finally topple Apple from the top spot and if the wild rumors will prove correct, the South Korean tech giant wants to start early thus pushing for the Galaxy S7 release date to happen on February 2016.
However, Apple seems unwilling to let Samsung gain momentum as there are whispers too point to an advanced iPhone 7 release date, likely as early as July 2016.
