Former F1 Ferrari racer Michael Schumacher's condition is reportedly getting better. Not much has been reported on him in the last couple of months, which got his fans a little worried about his accident.
In an interview with Auto Sport, President of the Federation Internationale de I'Automobile (FIA) Jean Todt shared that the world champion is definitely "still fighting."
"I see Michael very often, and Michael is still fighting, and we must keep fighting with the family," he said.
Speaking at the Mexican Grand Prix, Todt commended Lewis Hamilton's third win but also encouraged fans to not forget about Schumacher. He said that Schumacher's seven championship record was as impressive today as it was years back.
The publication recounted that it has been a little more than two years since Schumacher sustained severe brain injuries after a skiing accident. He was then placed in a medically-induced coma and had to spend several months in intensive care in Grenoble hospital before he finally woke up.
Since then he was allowed to move in to a hospital in Lausanne. Last September, the F1 racer was finally able to return home with his family.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Hamilton experienced backlash from fans after Kolner Express, a German tabloid, claimed that the latter was dissing Schumacher. Hamiltion, however, took to Instagram to clear his name.
In his post, he shared that he has always been a fan of Schumacher. He added that he will always be grateful and proud to have met him, saying that he has always been kind to him.
Hamilton also encouraged his fans to not believe anything they read. He said that he would never wished to disrespect Schumacher, adding that he put him and his family in the highest regard.
