Supercell's recent announcement that the soon-to-release Clash of Clans expansion update is all about "quality of life changes," which also explains the delay, begs the question: How exactly the promised upgrades will alter the lives of COC gamers?
The Supercell statement seems to suggest that the update, which the company described as the biggest to come to the mega-hit strategy game, is more than the introduction of Level 11 Town Hall, increased level for the Barbarians, Witches and Hog Riders and the unveiling of the Third Hero (Mage or Master Wizard, no one knows for now).
"We are taking the time we need to make sure all of the delicate upcoming changes are as well tested and well balanced as possible," Supercell said as reported by Game Zone.
Truth to be told, Supercell delivering TH11, the new Hero and the Level 8 Barbarians will certainly prompt many COC gamers to rejoice but these are fans with advanced grasp of the game. Will the update also please the casual Clashers, which according to a Touch Arcade report are the majority of COC players?
The same report speculates that when Supercell used the phrase "quality of life changes,' the company is dropping clues on the key COC game-changer feature - that the Clash of Clash will offer new game flavors that gamers of all kind will appreciate.
The Touch Arcade report believes that the COC update will address a major concern of casual players - the game eats too much time that the fun easily wears out for many.
"Most people I know who have tried playing Clash of Clans had to stop because their inability to spend crazy amounts of time playing meant that the game simply wasn't as much fun," the blog post said, adding that it seem likely "Supercell (is) trying to make the game friendlier to the very casual players."
Proof of this is Supercell's indication that the COC update is packed with new features such as Session Timers, Personal Break and the introduction of a new Village Guard concept. While the company's recent statement held back the details on each feature, its tone seems to suggest that the Clash of Clans is being adjusted in such a way that both advanced and casual players will get the enjoyment they seek for.
More importantly, Supercell appears to unleash COC tweaks that would be inviting to new casual gamers and make them stay, Touch Arcade said.
These rumors should be confirmed or shot down starting November 23, the Supercell appointed time for Sneak Peeks of the new COC features to come out and run for two weeks, en route to the Clash of Clans update release date that likely will fall on December 7.
