Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen is HIV positive, but there is no trace of HIV virus in his blood. The actor is reportedly taking antiretrovirals and leading a healthy lifestyle.
People magazine broke the news citing a source close to Sheen just ahead of the much publicized live interview of the actor with Matt Lauer scheduled on Nov. 17. The actor is expected to clear the air over his HIV positive speculation during the interview.
According to the report, no HIV virus is detected in the blood samples of the 50-year-old actor, though Sheen is "still HIV-positive and isn't about to slow down."
Sheen is well known for his roles in the TV series "Anger Mangement" and the movie "Three Muskeeters." The Golden Globe winning actor's ex-wife Denise Richards has also been aware of Sheen's HIV status for years.
The actor was infected with HIV virus after his 2006 divorce with ex-wife Richards, a former actress and fashion model, and neither of his two daughters are HIV positive. The couple was together for four years.
Forty-four-year-old Richards was spotted at a Los Angeles pharmacy the same day, just hours after reports informed of a possible "revealing personal announcement" by Sheen during Tuesday's live sit-down.
Sheen was in very poor health and battling HIV, Daily Mail claimed. It also alleged that the Hollywood actor had been hiring porn stars to party with him and break the isolation while all visitors had to sign non-disclosure agreements and come without cell phones.
Sheen has a troubled past dotted with substance abuse and failed relationships. He once shot his girlfriend and, in another instance, assaulted one of his former wives. He admitted of cocaine addiction in 2010 following his arrest by the New York Police. He had a live-in relationship with many porn-industry actresses between 2008 and 2014. In 2009, he received AFA Angel Award, for his financial support to Aid for Aids.
