Trade rumors involving Sacramento Kings' franchise center DeMarcus Cousins are still abuzz even when the issue between Boogie and head coach George Karl had already calmed down following their recent three-game winning run. The latest speculation is a swap to the Boston Celtics in exchange for David Lee and numerous draft picks.
Bleacher Report's Adam Fromal listed down two "fake trade" scenarios that he let NBA analyst Dan Favale criticize whether it would be feasible or not and one of them is the above-mentioned possibility.
The proposal was Cousins to the Celtics for Lee, a 2016 first round pick the team acquired from the Nets, a 2017 second round pick from the Cavs, and another 2018 first round pick from the Nets as well.
Fromal said that "it's time for both of these teams to make a move" to maintain peace and harmony in the Kings' locker room and to give Boston the star that arguably the NBA's most illustrious franchise has lacked in recent years.
Last week, The Big Lead reported of a "cursing" altercation between Cousins and Karl, which was witnessed not only by the players but team executives as well, and it should be a major concern for Sacramento in the long run.
Cousins had recently admitted that he does not want Karl fired and so the issue eased off a bit while the team also won three straight games.
Meanwhile, the Celtics had always been interested in Cousins since May of this year, as indicated by ESPN, and they definitely have enough assets to potentially make it possible in midseason.
Even though the trade suggestion may make a lot of sense for both squads, Favale's remark was the specific trade suggestion "won't even come close to getting it done" as Lee and three draft picks are not enough to equal the value of Cousins for the Kings.
If Boston could give more, says Favale, such as "Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk in addition to those picks" or either "Marcus Smart or Avery Bradley", then it could be possible.
Sacramento does not want Lee and his expiring contract unless the Celtics agree on absorbing Rudy Gay's huge salary in the process.
Favale said that the best scenario to make this deal possible would be Sacramento's Cousins and Gay to Boston for Lee, Smart, Sullinger, James Young "plus those two Brooklyn selections".
