Sir Elton John is all set to marry his partner David Furnish in England. They have been together for more than 20 years but had not been able to tie the knot due to the lack of legal acceptance of same-sex marriages.
A law to this effect came into being in March and since then same-sex marriages were accorded legality in Wales and England. It also ought to be mentioned that the long-time couple had already opted for a civil partnership nine years ago. The couple has two children, Zachary and Elijah.
When the law came into force, the joy of John and Furnish knew no bounds and they started planning for a quiet and simple ceremony. Their children are also going to be an integral part of the ceremony as well. Even though the ceremony has been confirmed by John's representative, the actual date and venue have not been confirmed as of now. It is being speculated that the ceremony would take place on Dec. 21 at the Windsor Estate.
It was love at first sight for John when he first saw Furnish in 1993. Furnish was dressed in a stylish manner and that appealed to John immensely. After the initial meeting, they did not waste time and immediately made plans for a date the very next night and things moved to the next level after that.
A member of the LGBT community, John has expressed his reservations about the stand that the Church has taken against same-sex marriages. John said that Jesus Christ was a very loving and compassionate soul who was always trying to bond people together and that is what he expects the church to do as well.
