The iOS 9 update brought several new improvements to native Apple apps. One of these apps is Mail, which received tweaks and upgrades to improve its email management features. Here is a list of the three major improvements Mail received from iOS 9:
1. Attachments
The biggest change Mail received is the feature that allows users to add attachments into their emails. A long press into the body of the message will allow users to attach a document. Before the update, attachments are only limited to videos and photos.
The iOS 9 update also allows Mail users to save attachments by simply pressing on the file and wait until the share option pops up which now includes the new option Save Attachment.
According to Yahoo Tech, users can then save their chosen attachments to iCloud Drive or other cloud storage options like Google Drive or Dropbox. User feedbacks highlighted a restriction that allows them to save only one file at a time, which comes out as a bit annoying especially if users are trying to attach multiple files to a single email.
2. Multitasking
This is one of the most lauded improvement to Mail. Unfortunately, this upgrade is only available on newer models of the Apple iPad.
The iOS 9 multitasking feature allows user to run two apps on the screen at the same time. This allow users to simultaneously compose an email on one screen while doing other things, like researching or copywriting, on the other screen.
3. Proactive Search
This feature is a major improvement not only to Mail but to the whole iOS 9 platform. Apple is essentially turning its devices into a powerful digital assistant that anticipates user needs before they even need it. With the iOS 9 update, the search bar can now display results from Mail which include contacts and documents, according to Mac World.
