Apple is joining forces with Best Buy to boost the sales of its Apple Pencil stylus, which is a key Bluetooth-enabled tool for the iPad Pro tablet. This will boost the product's availability with Black Friday and the start of the holiday shopping season less than one week away, and address the issue of low supplies of the drawing tool at Apple Stores.
Best Buy teamed up with Apple earlier this year. The big box giant became the first retail chain to sell the Apple Watch wearable device.
Apple Insider has reported that the stylus will only be available at Best Buy's physical stores, and not online. It will also have a sky-high price tag of $99.99, according to Tech Times.
However, many tech experts have argued that the Pencil is the best-looking and most original iPad Pro accessory. Apple claims that the pressure-sensitive drawing tool is better than a standard stylus.
One reason is due to the lower latency (response time) that scans the stylus' signal 240 times per second, which produces drawings in almost real-time. It also creates the experience of using a lead pencil.
Users of the iPad Pro accessory can enjoy many features of Multi-Touch. It provides effects such as drawing a single pixel, according to InformationWeek.
However, there are a few key drawbacks of the Apple Pencil stylus. The battery cannot be replaced, so when the power supply's original 12-hour single charge is significantly reduced, the user should consider buying a new one.
In addition, repairing the Pencil is hard as nails. iFixit reported after its tear-down that getting past the unit's plastic and metal to the interior parts would destroy the device, which would result in one practical option: spending a hundred bucks for a new Pencil.
