A spokesperson said on Dec. 23, Tuesday that the Sony Pictures comedy movie "The Interview" will be released in over 200 theaters, Reuters has learned.
This report came after Sony Pictures made a decision to have a limited Christmas Day release of the controversial film with independent exhibitors. Last week, the studio cancelled a wide release because of the controversy it was involved in.
The biggest movie theater chains said they would not screen "The Interview" because of the security concerns caused by hackers prompted by the movie's story line, which revolves around devising a plan to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
