The Anonymous hacker group reportedly discovered plots by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) extremist group for terrorist attacks in the United States, France, Italy, Lebanon, and Indonesia on November 22, Sunday. A subgroup of the "hacktivist" group reported the plans for the terrorist attacks about a week after ISIS claimed responsibility for the killing of 130 people in Paris.
Anonymous' sub-group OpParisIntel reported that ISIS was planning to attack various events. They included a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Survivor Series event in Atlanta, U.S., several venues in France's capital, a Five Finger Death Punch (heavy metal band) gig in Milan, University Pastoral Day in Lebanon, and an event of the One Day One Juz Muslim group in Indonesia, according to International Business Times.
The hacker group stated that ISIS' goal of listing the possible targets was to inform the whole world that terrorist attacks could happen. Another goal was to confuse people after the attacks were canceled.
The U.S.'s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a statement about the WWE threat. It addressed it "seriously."
Anonymous recently took down one of ISIS' biggest communication forums following the Paris terrorist attacks. The hacktivists claim they have shut down 149 Internet sites, 101,000 Twitter accounts, and 5,900 videos that belonged to ISIS.
ISIS then published online guidelines so its followers could prevent Twitter account hacks, according to The Independent. They were sent in the Telegram mobile app, which encrypts messages that can self-destruct after a certain amount of time.
