The Pirate Bay (TPB) is still the last torrent-downloading website up and running defying the MPAA as Kickass experiences frequent bugs and security issues. The newly launched free movie streaming service, Popcorn Time torrent site, was forcibly shut down a few hours after it came back to the Web.
Popcorn Time had just commenced operations again when it suddenly disappeared from the face of the Internet. MPAA reportedly coerced the developer of this torrent site to shut down. Representing copyright holders, MPAA warned Popcorn Time about lengthy legal wars in case the free movie streaming service was not shut down, Torrent Freak reported.
Popcorn Time developer wanted to continue the project but eventually realized that it is not worth the trouble given the court issues with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), according to a different report from the same publication. However, there are possibilities that Popcorn Time torrent website may not be gone for long. Most likely, a new operation will pick-up where the previous, shaken down, developer left.
With Popcorn Time down, avid movie torrent downloaders can still turn to The Pirate Bay, which is the only standing website now. Kickass is on and off because of bugs and security problem. In fact, Google flagged Kickass Torrents as a malware risk site that tech users should avoid.
While The Pirate Bay is still running today, it is unclear how long the site will continue defying MPAA, particularly with the recent claims of Microsoft's Window 10 preventing users from accessing the site. However, the Redmond-based tech giant is mum on this issue.
