A couple of leaked screenshots suggest that Apple is working on a troubleshooting and support app for iOS.
A series of screenshots from Sonny Dickson, a source for past Apple leaks, depict what looks like a comprehensive support app. The supposedly app will let users pick the Apple product they are having problems with, and with a series of questions helps narrow down the exact issue.
When appropriate, the app provides options for calling Apple Support and scheduling an appointment for an in-store Genius Bar visit, according to Engadget. In addition, it can also help users skip the necessary store visit when not needed but providing information on how to address the issue whenever possible.
The app reportedly links in to the devices registered to a user’s Apple ID, enabling it to offer up suggestions and solutions for common issues related to particular bits of Apple kit. It showed a list of categorized subjects like “battery, power & charging” and “setup & usage,” letting users tap through and drill down to their specific inquiry.
The app also includes a number of “how-to” guides related to Apple devices. It offers “recommended actions” like initiating a chat with an advisor, scheduling an in-store visit, and other options as well.
Since people spent more time on their mobile devices accessing Apple's support options, the app would also serve to ease the pressure on its Genius Bar specialists, with shorter wait times for customers a welcome added benefit, The Verge reported.
Apparently, Apple Inc. has yet to confirm the app. It is still unclear when the app might see release, or if it will even be a stand-alone app or just rolled into the existing Apple Store app as part of an update.
