Not only that the Galaxy S7 is likely scheduled for an earlier 2016 release date, to the delight of Android and Samsung fans alike, it appears too that the sequel to the Galaxy S6 is dead set to bring back a feature that is beloved to millions of smartphone users - storage expansion.
As if admitting that ditching the microSD slot in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge is a monumental blunder, Samsung is reportedly making amends and will please its Sammy followers, as well as Android device users, by bringing the feature that will permit phone users to extend the built-in memory of the S7 when needed.
According to SamMobile, Samsung engineers have designed the Galaxy S7 to support memory expansion but the exact implementation of the returning feature was not detailed for now. However, the one other feature that Sammy fans would want to make a comeback seems to be not part of the S7 blueprint - removable back plate and therefore replaceable battery.
The same report indicated that Samsung is using nearly the same design template that was introduced with the Galaxy S6. From the mostly plastic frame used on its previous flagship smartphones, the South Korean tech giant switch to the premium and solid materials of glass and metal that necessitated a closed S6 housing, which will be the same case for the Galaxy S7.
But some tweaks will be applied on the Galaxy S7 Edge that will come out at the same time with the regular S7, which according to G4Games will be unboxed with a Quad-Edge Curved front panel as compared to the dual-edge screen seen in the Galaxy S6 Edge.
Samsung's flagship duo will hit the market in two screen sizes, the report added. The Galaxy S7 is expected to showcase a 5.2-inch screen profile while the S7 Edge is geared for the giant phablet market with its front panel screaming at 5.7-inch.
Rumors suggest that Samsung is planning an early February 2016 release date for both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge while the unveiling will likely coincide with the 2016 Las Vegas CES that kicks off January 6. Per TechRadar, Samsung is scheduled to hold a press event the day before.
