In latest blow to Comedy Central's smash hit animated series, "South Park" preview trailers get banned for showing explicit content and broadcasting rules. Comedy Central is currently airing "South Park" Season 19 and Episode 9 is set to air on Dec. 2, 2015.
Apart from "South Park" trailers, "Inside Amy Schumer" trailers also faced the banned for similar causes. According to a report by Guardian, Ofcom believed that the trailers contain explicit content and it decided to ban them for breaking the broadcast rules and regulations. Although the trailers are aired at 10 p.m. which is after the 9 p.m. limit.
The "South Park" preview trailer in question is the one that showcased a song to introduce the new season and it had elements of crude and explicit nature like references to "The Human Centipede" movie.
"We concluded that the content was so offensive that in our view it would have exceeded viewers' expectations even when broadcast at 10pm (and afterwards) on a specialist comedy channel," Ofcom stated.
"Comedy Central accepts Ofcom's findings and would like to apologise for any offence caused."
"These breaches took place ahead of the recent changes we made to simplify and strengthen the compliance procedures and creative guidelines governing our on-air promos."
"South Park" is set to air Season 19, Episode 9 on Dec. 2, 2015 after the Thanksgiving week holidays. The creators of "South Park" are yet to respond about the ban.
