Taylor Swift created history by setting a new record with her "Blank Space" being on the top spot on Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth consecutive week. She became the first female singer in history to beat her own record when she bettered her "Shake It Off" record. And her fans rejoiced in glee, when she replaced herself at the number one spot with "Blank Space". "Blank Space" started off at the number 13 spot but the popularity of the number soon spread and it jumped straight to the top spot.
In the illustrious 50 years plus history of the Billboard Hot 100, she is the very first female and the 10th musician to do so. Beatles once managed to replace their own songs thrice at the top spot. And the way, Taylor Swift seems to be going it wouldn't be surprising if she tops that as well.
At the Billboard 200, also she is the musician at the top spot with 375,000 units and she has successfully managed to keep Nicki Minaj's "The Pinkprint" at bay with just 244,000 units.
The third spot is occupied by Pentatonix's "That's Christmans to Me" with sales of 203,000 units and the fourth spot is held by J Cole's "2014 Forest Hills Drive" with sales figures of around 135,000 units. The top five also star D'Angelo's "Black Messiah" with sale records of just 117,000 units.
Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, One Direction, AC/DC and Garth Brooks make up the others in the Top Ten List.
The best selling album of the current year was "Frozen (2013)" with sales of almost 3.5 million units and the way things are rolling for the pop-star, "1989" looks all set to supersede it very soon.
