The debut of the Netflix series adaptation of Marvel's "Jessica Jones" was met with Gal Gadot releasing an official image of the upcoming "Wonder Woman" DC movie that will show the actress taking on the role of the superheroine.
"Jessica Jones," which stars 33-year-old musician and former model Krysten Ritter, has been receiving incredibly positive reviews from both the critics and the general public.
Identified as the very first Marvel series with the intention of introducing an actual female superhero, "Jessica Jones" currently has three episodes that have generated significant attention, according to Forbes.
The move by Gadot to release a "Wonder Woman" teaser just as the Netflix series has been starting to gain much popularity seems to be a competitive marketing move by DC to offset the advantage that Marvel has had with "Jessica Jones."
Next month, the story of "Wonder Women" would be celebrating its 74th anniversary as the superheroine was introduced back in December 1941. Thus, there is no special event this November that could immediately explain the surprise release of the photo.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old actress and fashion model from Israel is set to portray "Wonder Woman" in Patty Jenkins' film adaptation of the popular superheroine, according to Australia News Network.
Likewise, the official photo of Gadot as Wonder Woman has removed rumors that the 48-year-old "Bewitched" actress Nicole Kidman has been picked by Warner Bros to star as the Diana Prince, which is the identity used by Wonder Woman in the comic book series.
Gadot once worked for the Israel Defense Forces for two years before pursuing a career in Hollywood. The former beauty pageant debuted on the big screen as Gisele Yashar in 2009 in the fourth installment of "The Fast and the Furious" franchise.
"Wonder Woman" is set to be released in theaters on June 23, 2017, to coincide with the 28th anniversary of visionary director Tim Burton's "Batman" movie adaptation.
