Korean-based tech-giant Samsung filed a complaint to California-based global technology company Nvidia said U.S. International Trade Commission on Thursday. The said complaint is about infringing its graphics chip technology, chip structures, memory arrays, accelerator cards and modules, to name a few.
ITC said on Tuesday that they will investigate the complaint made by Samsung over Nvidia but this does not mean that the merit will be given to the Korean tech-giant, PC World reports.
Samsung is also accusing Nvidia on creating false advertising and marketing that the chip maker's Tegra K1 processor is the "world's fastest processor."
The complaint that was filed November was in response to Nvidia's allegation to Samsung and Qualcomm's infringement complaint. It can be recalled that Nvidia filed a patent infringement complaint back in September which states that the Korean smartphone makers' Exynos system-on-chips from ARM and Imagination Technologies infringe its graphics patents, Kitguru reported.
It was also reported that Nvidia demanded to ban several Samsung products, such Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Tab S and Galaxy Pro, that contains ARM's Mali, Qualcomm's Adreno graphic cards or Imagination's PowerVR.
Samsung then denied the claims of Nvidia and filed a counter complaint asking for damages on infringing some of their patents. Apart from the chip maker company, Korean-based tech giant is also filing charges to Elitegroup, Biostar, EVGA, Jaton, Fuhu, OUYA, Mad Catz, Toradex, Sparkle Computer, Wikipad and ZOTAC.
In a statement, Nvidia's Chief Administrative Officer David Shannon said that "We won't allow ourselves to get sidetracked by the company's attempts to intimidate our partners who have nothing to do with the unlicensed use of our IP. We look forward to the court setting this right."
