The upcoming episode of "Empire" season 2 will feature some problems for Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and a new relationship for her son Jamal (Jussie Smollett).
In "Sinned Against," Cookie will take revenge against Laz for betraying her. According to the show's synopsis, Cookie will also slap Laz at least once in the episode.
Meanwhile, Alicia Keys' character Skye Summers will develop a close relationship with Jamal.
However, it's nothing romantic. The two will become good friends after they team up for a song.
In other news, Cookie's personal life will once again be troubled by her sister Carol.
The upcoming episode will show Carol suffering from a drug overdose.
In the teaser released by FOX, Summers could be seen playing the piano while Jamal looked on.
The next scene featured Cookie fighting with Carol.
"Ain't nobody sent a search party for me when I was locked up for 17 years," Cookie told her sister.
"Maybe because we knew where you were," Carol fired back.
Another scene showed Skye singing a beautiful ballad.
"I see a colorful future..." she sang.
At one point, Lucious (Terrence Howard) introduced Skye as one of Empire's newest artists.
"Empire would be thrilled to have Skye Summers is on its roster," Lucious told the crowd.
The next scene cut to Jamal singing while Skye played the piano.
"We won't just stand here in silence..." Jamal sang.
He also had a conversation with Skye.
"Man, if I sang my whole truth my fans would turn on me," Skye told him.
"Empire" season 2 airs Wednesdays on FOX.
