Huawei revealed over the weekend the first ever 4K Ultra HD iTV. China's leading telecommunications firm and makers of the Ascend Mate 7 is launching the television box set in partnership with China Telecom Sichuan branch.

4K resolution video, otherwise known as Ultra HD video, is the next in technological advances towards high quality video resolution. The horizontal resolution of a device or content reaches up to 4,000 pixels and is currently being used in the industry as a resolution standard specifically in digital television and digital cinematography.

Such tenacity is currently being used by streaming websites such as YouTube and Vimeo.

Some of the rumored specs that come along with this set-top box include an H2.65 paired up Huawei's very own in-house CPU, standard ports found in other television boxes such as the Ethernet, HDMI output and USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Aside from being Android ready, it also boasts built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, internal and external storage capacity (most likely bearing a 4GB memory and a microSD expansion).

This will be the first time a domestic telecommunications operator incorporated the intelligent 4K set-top box to carry video services according to Huawei on their official website.

Aside from being the first in the industry to perform such feat, the move is also being done to help telecom operators all over the country to respond to the splash generated by over-the-top (OTT) services that are being offered by Internet companies by speeding up connection and communication efficiency for added consumer satisfaction.
