Thirteen years after playing Greg Buehl in "8 Mile," which starred Eminem, "Boardwalk Empire" actor Michael Shannon joined the cast of the comedy film "The Night Before" starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen and Jillian Bell.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Shannon said all of his films this year were shot so far apart from one another but they are all strangely coming out so closely. He said "The Night Before" was something he was able to "squeeze in pretty quickly."
"I only spent about a week on it," Shannon told the publication about filming "The Night Before. "I liked the idea of doing it in response to all those people who've asked me countless times, 'Are you ever going to do a comedy?' This is said comedy so the question can be retired."
After "The Night Before," Shannon is set to star in several upcoming films including "State Like Sleep," "Frank & Lola," 'Wolves," "Salt and Fire," "Poor Boy," "Nocturnal Animals," "Midnight Special," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Elvis & Nixon" and "The Price," among others.
With Gordon-Levitt, Rogen, Bell and Shannon, "The Night Before" also stars Lizzy Caplan, Helene Yorke, Ilana Glazer, Aaron Hill, Tracy Morgan, Darrie Lawrence and Nathan Fielder, among others.
During "The Night Before" premiere, Shannon wore a jaunty Christmas sweater. His wife Kate Arrington also attended the event, according to Vulture.
In "8 Mile," Shannon played the boyfriend of Stephanie (Kim Basinger), the mother of Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith, Jr. (Eminem). Recently, he is known for playing Nelson Van Alden in the TV series "Boardwalk Empire."
