Synopsis
"One Punch Man" episode 9 begins with Genos battling the Sea King. After an apparent win, the Sea King knocks Genos down. The Hero Organization chooses to call for Saitama.
While Genos works hard to save the rest of the hostages, the Deep Sea King is stronger than him. He is almost crushed into nothing while trying to protect a little girl who cheers for him. Eventually, Mumen Rider arrives on the scene and the Deep Sea King rips his arms off and throws him aside.
Mumen Rider understands well that he cannot win, but keeps fighting as the crowd cheers for him. Although this proves futile, Saitama catches Mumen Rider as he falls and congratulates him.
Saitama turns his eyes on Sea King, and as usual knocks him down with a single punch. Eventually, Speed-o-Sound Sonic comes back with his weapon, but obviously, he is too late.
The episode then focuses on Genos and Saitama doing grocery shopping and they reach home to some fan mail. It seems someone has sent some hate mail to Saitama indicating that he is a fraud.
Apparently, there was much discussion about powers and capabilities after the fight with the Deep Sea King took place. One individual specifically believed that heroes have a job to do since the people are paying for the hero organization. However, Saitama disrupts the discussion by asserting that everyone should know he was the one who knocked down Deep Sea King although other heroes wore him down first.
Saitama admits that he is a fraud to allow everyone pay tribute to the fallen heroes. Later, he receives one fan mail, making him the first hero in the Class-C category. He must endure an interview to rise to Class-B.
At the end, Saitama gets the Class-B position. When he runs into Mumen Rider at a street food place, the latter buys him a plate. Apparently, Mumen Rider is the one who sent Saitama the thank you/fan mail.
