Henry Cavill's Superman flings Ben Affleck's Batman mask off in a recent teaser for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" aired during Fox's "Gotham" series Monday.
Warner Bros. released the clip taken from Batman and Superman's epic battle in the upcoming DC Extended Universe film that's expected to premiere next spring.
The footage shows the caped crusader, Ben Affleck chained in a cave-like underground bunker together with other prisoners. Henry Cavill's Superman lands on the sand-filled floor of the cave, and armed guards bow to their knees as he stalks past.
Walking toward the prisoner with a sneer on his face, the Man of Steel rips Batman's mask off to reveal an angry and disheveled Bruce Wayne.
According to Cinema Blend, the scene reportedly takes place in a desert setting away from both Metropolis and Gotham.
Based on the last teaser shown during the San Diego Comic-Con in April, Batman is seen wearing desert combat gear in the middle of infiltrating a military base of operations, said to be housing Superman's army.
The report further points out the new teaser footage may be Batman's dream sequence which takes a look at a world where Superman is considered a threat to Earth.
According to Movie Pilot, the teaser introduces the "Sons of Batman," a gang of ex-thugs who pledge their allegiance to the Dark Knight, and who are presented as his fellow prisoners chained next to him in the bunker.
The recently aired teaser serves to herald the movie's full trailer which is scheduled to debut during "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at ABC on Dec. 2, Wednesday.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" also stars Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, and Gal Gadot, and is expected to premiere in theaters on March 25, 2016.
