Parrot is stepping up its game as it introduces its RNB6 car infotainment system, which is compatible not only with new car models, but old ones as well.

The RNB 6, which is fitted onto a car's dashboard, will support both Android Auto from Google and CarPlay from Apple, according to CNET. Previously, only NEX from Pioneer supported CarPlay.

The two-DIN unit has support for several ports, including GPS, MIC, HDMI, dash camera, USB, iPhone, Ethernet and even FM/AM radio.

According to Engadget, the RNB6 wil feature a 7 inch "IPS Pro" touch screen with a 720p resolution, a 1080 pixel "Super HDR" dash camera and a 4 x 55-watt audio amplifier. The dashboard device is reported to run on a modified version of Google's latest Android 5.0, which will provide control for navigation, calls, air control, onboard diagnostics and paring assistance. The RNB6 will also support voice control for less distraction to the driver.

Another unique feature is that the driver can modify the sound stage inside the vehicle, giving the user an option to hear music as if he/she was in the center. Parrot will be offering several presets for different car models. Drivers can also share their presets with other RNB6 users.

Parrot did not disclose the price for its RNB6 product, but CNET reports that the price will most likely be similar to Pioneer's NEX, which costs more than $800. There is also no announcement from Parrot when the RNB6 unit will be available in the market.
