A Massachusetts Walmart shopper was shocked and upset after seeing birds sitting on top of, and pecking at packaged raw meat such as ground beef in the hypermarket's butcher's department. The woman posted a video on Facebook, added the caption that she would never buy food from the big box store again, and suggested that the Board of Health should be informed about the situation.

In addition, the patron reported that the employee walked over to collect the meat that the birds were pecking at. However, after the worker walked away, the birds flew back to eat the raw meat.

Scott Conway also complained to the store employees about the hungry birds, and snapped a photo of the winged animals, according to News965. He also shared that the employees did not seem to be worried about the birds, and replied, "Yeah, they're here."

Based on local media reports, the Chicopee Health Department was informed about the birds eating the raw meat at the Walmart, and then performed an inspection. Afterwards the 17 birds were removed from the Walmart store and the meat was thrown out.

After Rhonda Kitchen shared the Walmart video, other people told their horror stories about food purchases at the retail chain. They had been made at different locations throughout the United States, according to KTVU.

One Walmart customer claimed the employees and managers kept spoiled meat on the store's sales floor while the freezers were being defrosted. The customer and her family became very ill after eating meat purchased at the store. They were compensated with one pack of chicken.

Other people in the area complained about the quality of food that the Chicopee store sold. The Walmart reported that it took actions to prevent the birds from re-entering the Massachusetts store.

A Walmart spokesperson also informed Western Mass News that the store hired a professional to remove the birds.

Birds carry many illnesses besides avian flu. In fact, the small animals and their droppings can contain more than 60 diseases.
