The Footwear News 29th Annual Achievement Awards have named the Yeezy Boost 350 as Shoe of the Year, which allowed Kanye West to deliver an acceptance speech that included a statement about the rapper's new baby.
West's award-winning collaboration with Adidas is the follow-up to the Yeezy Boost 750 and was released on June 27 for $200.
The rapper's wife, Kim Kardashian, quickly made an Instagram post to congratulate her husband's achievement. Kardashian also wanted to tell people how valuable the award was for West because of all the hard work and importance given to the shoe design, according to E! News.
Likewise, the DONDA founder revealed that an indirect cause for the Yeezy Boost 350 shoe design was the infamous MTV Video Music Awards scandal with fellow musician Taylor Swift. In order to get away from the paparazzi and the criticisms, West went to Japan and started to creatively think of the design.
The "Jesus Walks" singer also humorously told the audience at the "Shoe Oscars" that West does not plan on being broke ever. The thought comes to West's mind especially when the rapper looks at his daughter North West and his wife Kardashian, who is already incredibly rich without needing any other financial support.
The music artist noted that creating things and designing shoes have been West's goals as even North is able to create happiness for her father just by playing around and jumping up and down.
For West, people should continue to strive for creative greatness regardless of an individual's popularity, economic status or social standing, according to GQ. The record producer wanted people to know that any obstacles to creativity and success should be immediately taken down.
Meanwhile, the hip-hop artist noted that he was eagerly waiting for the arrival of West and Kim Kardashian's son as the 38-year-old West accepted the award for having designed the Yeezy Boost 350.
Kardashian gave birth to North back on June 15, 2013, and is expecting to give birth to a baby boy in December.
