Known as the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion and Paul Walker's "Furious 7" co-star, Ronda Rousey does not think she recently lost to Holly Holm because the latter is better than her.
In his recent guest appearance on "Off the Record with Michael Landsberg," UFC President Dana White revealed that he has spoken to Rousey after the UFC 193 pay-per-view (PPV) main event in November in Australia, in which Holm knocked out Rousey.
"I've talked to her almost every day after the fight and when she sat down with me and Lorenzo a few days ago, she said, 'I was exhausted going into that fight. I was exhausted mentally, physically, emotionally,'" White told Landsberg.
It appears that Rousey does not want to talk to the media and to the mixed martial arts community after losing to Holm but she considers White as an exception. According to White, Rousey had "a lot of personal things going on, too, with her family."
Dublin-born mixed martial artist Conor McGregor also said during a recent media conference call that "personal issues" may have caused Rousey's loss to Holm.
"From looking from where I was at, I could see that maybe she's doing a little too much on the media side," The Guardian quoted McGregor as saying. "That coupled with personal life that I don't know about, maybe could've hampered her training a little bit."
In 2016, Rousey will star in "Mile 22," which is directed by Peter Berg and written by Graham Roland. Joining Rousey in the cast of the upcoming action film are Mark Wahlberg and Iko Uwais.
Rousey is also set to star in another action film titled "Road House," which is written and directed by Nick Cassavetes. On the other hand, it has yet to be confirmed if the former UFC women's bantamweight champion is reprising her role as Kara in "Furious 8."
"Road House" is a remake of the 1989 action film of the same title. Among the stars of the original version was wrestling icon Terry Funk. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Funk was surprised to know that there is a "Road House" reboot starring Rousey.
"Ronda Rousey in 'Road House?'" Funk said. "They're making a remake and I'm not in it and she is? That's bull---t. She don't belong in there! I'd like to go ahead and get her in the goddamn ring. It wouldn't take me 10 rounds to kick her ass."
