Lady Gaga and Laila Ali are just two of the celebrities who bashed Ronda Rousey after the "Furious 7" star's loss to Holly Holm during the UFC 193 mixed martial arts event on Nov. 15 in Australia. Apparently, Holm is not happy about the backlash Rousey is getting.
In an interview with TMZ, Holm said she feels bad for Rousey and wants the haters to back off. She said, "I think people can be pretty brutal, and when you're in the spot she's in, there are people that are just going to jump ship and I don't ever wish for that."
"I have a lot of respect for her," Holm said of Rousey. The UFC 193 event, which was held at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium, was Rousey's first defeat in her entire UFC career.
After her controversial loss to Holm, Rousey's next step in her career as a mixed martial artist has yet to be determined. It appears, however, that Rousey will be busy as an actress in the following year.
Rousey is set to star in the 2016 film "Mile 22" opposite Mark Wahlberg, who attended the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, days before the UFC 193 event, Just Jared reported.
Directed by Peter Berg and written by Graham Roland, "Mile 22" stars Wahlberg as a CIA field officer who has to work together with an Indonesian police officer (Iko Uwais) to deal with violent and extreme political corruption.
Aside from "Mile 22," Rousey will also star in the upcoming action film "Road House," which is written and directed by Nick Cassavetes. The UFC star previously starred in "American Judoka," "The Expendables 3," "Furious 7" and "Entourage."
