Sia Furler's recently released "Elastic Heart" music video has been slammed for having dance moves that are provocative and suggestive of pedophilia. The 39-year-old Australian singer-songwriter was quick to take to Twitter to apologize to those who are upset about it.
"I apologize to those who feel triggered by #ElasticHeart My intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody," Sia tweeted.
Prior to this, Sia tweeted, "I anticipated some 'pedophelia!!!' Cries for this video. All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play these two warring 'sia' self states."
Featured in the "Elastic Heart" music video are Brad Pitt's "Fury" co-actor Shia LaBeouf, 28, and "Dance Moms" star Maddie Ziegler, 12, who also starred in Sia's "Chandelier" music video.
Inside a large cage, LaBeouf and Ziegler perform an interpretative dance with intimate moves that critics find inappropriate. The controversial dance moves were choreographed by "Chandelier" music video director Daniel Askill.
While the choreography does not have overtly sexual moves between LaBeouf and Ziegler, critics interpret it as aggression and sexual intimacy.
Among the critics of Sia's "Elastic Heart" music video is Elle Magazine (US). The publication tweeted, "Sia's creepy naked "Elastic Heart" video is the EXACT plot of Titanic."
From Sia's sixth studio album "1000 Forms Of Fear," the song "Elastic Heart" was recorded for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack," which is the soundtrack of the 2013 film "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" starring Jennifer Lawrence.
Neither LaBeouf nor Ziegler's mother has commented on the issue.
